Today is St George’s Day. We all know St George as the patron saint of England, but Robert Baden-Powell also chose him to be the patron saint of Scouting. On this day, we remember St George and his dedication to duty, his bravery and courage, and always looking danger in the face and fighting against all odds. These are attributes those in Scouting are trying to emulate.

In past years, there has been a parade through the town of all members of Scouting in the District, and we have had a service where we have renewed our promise. There is no parade this year – but we can still remember our promise and try to live up to our promise. So put your uniform on or just stand and make the Scout Sign and let’s renew our promise again – and remember the courage of St George.

Beavers

As a Beaver the promise you made was

“I promise to do my best to be kind and helpful and to love God”

Cubs

As a Cub the promise you made was

“I promise to do my best, to do my duty to God and to the Queen, the help other people and to keep the Cub Scout Law”

The Cub Scout law states:

“Cub Scouts always do their best, think of others before themselves, and do a good turn every day.”

Scouts

“On my honour, I promise to do my best, to do my duty to God and to the Queen, the help other people and to keep the Scout Scout Law”
